We'll get more "Red State" numbers as time goes by.
I know that in PA a Republican will kick butt if they are up early, because Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, the Democratic hotbeds, always report first. Likewise, the Democrat must have a fairly big lead early to end up on top.
On the national level, the Western states are more Rural and tend Republican, so the same thing happens-- Republican votes get counted later. And then there's the time zones, mucking it up more.
