Swann got whupped up, big time. This is much more like a mandate form the people than anything Bush claimed.
One of Rendell's cronies just said that it's been 60 years since Pennsylvania that there has been a liberal labor platform liekt his one assembled, or such. Rendell also affirmed that this is the last time he'll run for public office.
Guess no Rendell '08 campaign? Oh well. I'm sure you must be heartbroken, Nate. I agree though, definitely a bit more of a mandate than Bush's.
Speaking of Bush, how did the Democrats actually lose to Bush in '04? I think Kerry was paid off to throw the election...it's the only thing that makes any sense. He ran a horribly wretched campaign and still barely lost. He HAD to be trying to lose...it's the only explanation.
Rendell Mandate; nope. He won 60-40; a 10 pt swing the other way and Swann would win. In fact, Swann won more PA counties than Rendell did, the difference being that Rendell won the urban Hell-holes like Philladelphia and Allentown. I'm happy dumping Suck-torum, but Rendell is a slimeball.
Thanks. If I'd actually said it was a mandate, rather than "more like" one, that would be a great contribution.
Talking about the large numebr of Republicn counties really doesn't count as news, since we elect by number of votes. Not to mention that if you want to talk about mandates and land area of voters, then Bush had more right to say how clearly the people decided in 2004.
I agree that Rendell is a slimeball. I particularly like his two-faced approach to education-- "I'm going to give more money to the schools, even though our state puplic education already has more money per student than most states and still manages to suck. Homeschooling, even though it works better, should be outlawed, but I won't be able to make that happen so I'll make sure it's as difficult as possible."
