Talking Head

I've accused Barak Obama of being nothing more than a pretty boy. This sort of lunacy helps me confirm my suspicion that he's all fluff in the head.

I'm all about big pictures, but when actions like wars are based only on big pictures we get results like bloody civil wars in unstable regions with American troops just stuck there dying at taxpayers expense. Big pictures need to be the motivation for plans, not the end.

When the best plan Obama can come up with is a love-fest about all the different kinds of bad things in the world and how they're all violence, someone really needs to pull the soapbox out from under him and give him a joint. Hope that sprang eternal never kept Casey from striking out. For that matter, while Flynn and Blake were as uninspiring as any hoodoo and cake, they at least got somewhere.

Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright.
The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light.
And, somewhere men are laughing, and little children shout....

Or maybe not.

Play ball.

  • Personally, I do like that he is going for the big picture instead of going after gun control, violent video games (i.e. Doom), and angry music (i.e. Rammstein). It would be nice if he focused a little on parents and the way they raise their children, but his big picture includes some accurate causes I think. On the other hand, I agree with you Nate, big pictures are great if they are the motivation to come up with a plan or plans.

I think that ultimately will determine if Obama has a chance in the primaries. His talking big pictures will work temporarily to enthuse people who want someone with a brain and isn't too short sighted to see the real problems, but if his big pictures don't lead to any concrete plans, Hillary and everyone else are totally going to nail him on it in the debates.

For the sake of our country, maybe he'll come up with some plans and won't just be a pretty boy talking fluff head. Time will tell.

  • Of course, then there's the other problem, which I call the Great American Inflexability. If you make a plan, and then you need to change plans to get the same goal that the plan intends, nobody understands why you aren't following the plan. In other words, plans become sacred cows held above their purpose.

Sigh. Why can't we just start over?
